Marinel Codecademy Online African Diaspora Programme
The Marinel School of Engineering and Technology was founded in May 2021 in order to provide people of African and Caribbean heritage with free educational opportunities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Our programme offers free online software engineering courses and currently teaches 80 students in 22 different nations across the global African diaspora.
Data from the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics has shown that people of African and Caribbean descent are vastly underrepresented in STEM fields. Therefore, the Marinel School of Engineering and Technology has sought to alleviate this problem by awarding free computer programming scholarships to coding enthusiasts whom come from an underrepresented demographic and desire a career in Tech.
Software engineering can lead to a multitude of careers in the tech industry.
